In a fascinating post, Mike Russell of Eternal Perspectives examines the unsettling Matthew 11:12:

From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. (ESV)

Rather than mining the usual interpretation here, Russell advocates a new perspective by Brad Young, an expert on the Judaism of Jesus’ day. Young takes a look at the Jewishness of Jesus’ Gospel and how it puts this hard-to-understand passage in the right context.

As someone who could never find a completely satisfying meaning in this passage, I like what Young is thinking here. Perhaps you will, too. Check out the whole post here.
