Not sure what this comment means - I wasn't trying to show how I do or live... just making an observation that TALKING about stuff is far easier than actually DOING the stuff we talk about... how easy it is for we who blog to pontificate so wonderfully on the things of God - and then we have to wake up and live with ourselves the next day...

God has a way for us to live. When we live that way, we live abundantly. When we don't, we suffer tremendously... it's not rocket science.

Dan,

You're doing better than most people. I know that I try to live honestly before the Lord and I'm still overwhelmed by obligations and pressures to do this or that, to be this person or that.

Hi Dan,

You brought forth some very good thoughts on "the church" in these past two posts... thanks!

I share your angst with some of what the church apparently believes and practices and, though I think it would be difficult (and who said it should be easy!) I, too, long for a simpler way of life... I just have to think that the less "consumed" I am by life in general, the more abundantly I would live - less stress, more joy, etc.

For me - that sort of life can ONLY occur once I get to a place of honestly realizing, and then ACTING UPON, the reality that Jesus is ALL I need. About 6 months ago I had an article on my blog called "Just Give Me Jesus - PLUS" which commented on the church's need to ADD so much to the gospel - to make it more appealing, etc. There were thoughts on that article that coincide with SOME of your thoughts on the whole "spiritainment" topic - however, as you know, I am in a different ballpark from you in a general sense. Yet, we do share the same passion for integrity with the gospel - which IS Good News! LOL!

Thanks for taking the time to share these "positive" marks on the church - - I look forward to hearing what else the church might be doing right these days...
