Field of Dreams

Standard

Fertile fieldsI believe God speaks to us in dreams.

I dream quite a bit. Perhaps I’ve reached that old man stage where I’ve lapsed from visions into dreams, as in the Book of Joel.

In a dream I had the night after receiving distressing news, I heard sounds outside my home. I got out of bed and walked into the pre-dawn, only to witness a multitude of people scurrying around our property, digging a well, plowing fields, and working the land. Some faces I recognized, but others remained lost to me. I barely recognized our land. It seemed to me as if the workers had expanded the borders, tripling the amount of land we owned.

Amazed, I walked over to a person I recognized and asked, “What are you doing?”

He replied, “We’re helping you plant.”

That’s a dream too good to ignore.

  1. that is a wonderful dream, brother.
what a joy it must be to your soul to catch a glimpse of other laborers bending their backs and joining you in the culivation of your field in the early morning.
even though you would not recognize most of us if you passed us in the street, in your heart you know that we are with you in this in prayer and in labor.

may our Lord grant you a peace today that goes deeper than that which tries to rob it.

So what is Holy Spirit saying to you through this dream? What deposit has He made into your spirit?

What strikes me is that Father is working while you sleep – you have no control over what is happening. It reminds me when He put Abraham to sleep and made a covenant with Himself concerning Abraham.

    Peace.

    • I have some ideas, Brent, but I wish to keep those to my family right now.

He never sleeps nor slumbers, but his saints must. I think that’s when He works apart from us.

    Dan,
Your blog has planted more seeds than you know. Your fields are wider than those on your farm. Planting is taking place far from you…by those who’ve been encouraged by you. We’re now planting too, in our own fields…and all to the glory of our Father, Lord and Savior. Thanks for doing His work!

I’ll be praying for you & your family,
    Joy

    Cool !

Psalm 16: 7 “I will bless the Lord who has
    given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in
    the night seasons”

    • Cheryl,

I once met with a man whose specialty was dealing with dreams. Talking them out with him freed me from a series of nightmares I could not understand. That helped me deal with the issues the nightmares raised and I stopped having them. Not only that, but I finally came to peace about the issues that spawned the dreams and was able to move on.

Dreams have meaning. We shouldn’t ignore them.

  5. “Wow” (an awed quiet version) was my reaction too. That must have felt like a hug at this difficult time. When you pass through the waters I will be with you…Bear one another’s burdens…Praying His peace over you and your family.
