David (x2),

If I didn't communicate my response adequately, pleas let me reiterate:

The charismata are NOT a dividing line between who's right with God and who isn't. Anyone who believes that is a spiritual snob. Readers well know that I've never insinuated that charismatics are somehow superior. In fact, I suspect that many charismatics have gone off the deep end compared to their non-charismatic brethren.

A brother in Christ is a brother in Christ. I don't like the charismatic label. In fact, I like very few labels within Christianity. All they do is divide and create painful schisms that cast aspersions on Christianity as a whole. (I've written about this here.)

We are all growing. We are all learning different things because the Lord is dealing iwth each one of us as individuals. For that reason, I'm not into trying to pin people down because God doesn't. What we label each other doesn't truly matter all that much.

Dan,

I think you're missing David's point, which isn't that some Reformed churches accept the continuation of the charismatic gifts, but rather that one can believe strongly in the working of the Holy Spirit even if he or she doesn't think it is manifest in the charismatic gifts.
