He is definately right on about that. Many things come into play when God's power is manifested primarily faith in Jesus' s ability ,expectancy and as we grow older in Christ a greater responsibility to cooperate with His indwelling spirit in areas of personal holiness. Dan's comment about discernment is correct. That is a huge factor Peter wanting to call down fire from heaven and he missed it entirely.

I heard Pastor Cymbala say once ” that there is a difference between true pentecostal power and pentecostal culture”. So they did IVF. Instant zygote, which died in the womb after a few weeks. Now they are blaming God for their misfortune, which is interesting because during the proceedure, they were claiming Gods hand in the situation left and right. Which has made me ponder the whole "is it God or merely circumstances?" Thing. Have we become so jaded that we can't tell simple circumstances and coincidence from the truly miraculous? Are we trying so hard to rationalize that our decisions are really Gods will? Eve sinned by assuming that her decisions were better that Gods. We still sin in exactly the same way.
How am I supposed to comfort someone that I believe is suffering because of their own selfish desires, and not because "God let them down". Accountability and Consequences. I guess we all need to recognize that they exist.

Some friends of ours wanted a baby, and after several months of trying, were unable to. So they did IVF.
