God is listening to all this fear and thinking, "I told you in my word not to be afraid, can you not hear me? Will you not listen to me?" Thank you for your down to earth message. Maybe it will help somebody.
I don't like the way our government is going either, but I have a hope in Christ and am not afraid. AND I do not like to listen to the "Christian" media hype that wants to promote this fanatical fear.

This article hits the nail on the head! And it's that easy life that most of us want. We want things to be easier, cheaper, better, etc... But it seems to me that a lot of the way the Kingdom works is by having our lives be more difficult, more painful, and more sacrificial. I don't think it's a coincidence that so many prophets and Biblical figures either spend much of their ministry going against the grain (in near isolation) or dead.
Everything we do is geared toward an eternal reward. But man, that's hard to remember some days.

I think the hardest thing about not fearing is the fact that there is precious little promise of an “easy life” on this side of existence. Non-fear can be boring. Consider two blogs of a famous blogger ( you'd know him): one blog focusses on a gospel study, the other particular issues in the American church scene.
The gospel blog hasn't been touched in MONTHS but the issue oriented blog has posts, readers, and comments by the trainload.
And what is the big attention-getter? You got it. The negative crap, the American church is sinking, this popular preacher is a heretic, etc.
True fear of terrible things can't be turned off like a switch. The mind generates its own fear and worry. And the real fear is the possiblitity of losing the a lifestyle. What do people in nations where they live in modest huts fear?

Fear can also be a heckuva lot of fun.
