The Sound of a Lone Cricket Chirping

Your common field cricketIt's a cartoon staple. Having grown up with Warner Brothers' Looney Tunes stable of hilarity every Saturday morning, I used to hear it a lot. Daffy Duck makes some comment that goes over like a lead balloon and the next sound effect you hear is deathly stillness punctuated by the chirping of a solitary cricket.

In the wake of my post from Tuesday, Reality, Part 2, the cricket got a workout. The daffy blogger must've said something that substituted the archetypal lead balloon for one made out of depleted uranium. What that means for Cerulean Sanctum is uncertain. I need to process a few things in the days ahead.

Posts will continue. I think a More Cowbell Award is waiting in the wings, and I wish to revisit a couple past posts and expand them a bit.

Stay tuned…

I started at least 2 replies to that last message – but never ended up finishing one. It became a little difficult as you put a call to action in the end of the message – as I couldn’t really respond to that – except to say that I don’t know any people/orgs that would be possible clients for you – then I felt like I shouldn’t be responding. I generally only comment if I have something constructive to say/contribute.

But I do definately appreciate the blog – It’s taught me a lot and opened my eyes – and am looking forward to your novel coming out – you’ll be getting at least one order from down under…

Thanks Dan.

I, too, appreciate your blog and appreciated the honesty and candor in your post requesting help. Bravo for having the humility to stand up and say that we need each other. We’re all God’s charity cases anyway :)

I didn’t respond because I don’t have any connections to pass along to you. If I did, I’d be doing more freelancing myself–but I have not actively pursued it.

Best wishes to you, though…may God show Himself to be your family’s faithful Provider.

Sometimes, ’nuff is ’nuff… and you offered so much ’nuff in that post that, perhaps, nobody felt the need to augment, enhance or otherwise embellish what was already stated… i wouldn’t view it as crickets… i’d view it as silent affirmation – and move on.

So that was the sound of deafening silence…I’ve always wondered…

Dan,
I suspect some are in my shoes…not knowing exactly what it is you do and how you attract and serve clients. If I knew in some detail what it is you do and what sorts of decision-makers at organizations would be interested in your services, connections might spring to mind.

I add my voice to the appreciation for what you do here. You’re one of the best, and that’s a tiny circle in a huge thing call the blogosphere. I’m grateful for what you do.

I’d be happy to help if I knew anyone who might make use of your services…maybe if you posted some information on the type of client you are looking for – at least no one would be wasting your time with leads you aren’t interested in.

On another note – I would be interested in advertising on some of the Godblogs (providing I can afford to do so) – I don’t believe ads are a bad thing per se, and I understand your desire to keep your blog ad-free, but this too can be a way in which we as Christians help one another. I am a professional artist, educator; I also develop, implement and evaluate art education programs, and I although I do not produce what is popularly referred to as “Christian” art (I can’t stomach most of it – way too kitchy for my taste), I AM interested in reaching out to other believers through the gift God has given me.

Just a thought.

You come to me for help and all I offer is words. Sorry. It is a srtrange contradiction to say God has His eye on us while my pay went from $33,000 per annum to $17,000 and took a horrible amount of money from my elderly widowed mother so I wouldn’t lose my home, without exaggeration.

You may have to get the pruning shears even though you think you’ve lopped off everything in sight. We love CS but we don’t need it. That sounds cruel, but I don’t mean it to be. Your church and family needs you more than we do.

Many of us are very weary of making changes that take us further from what we had or what we want. Our pain threshold is low but does God want something out of this?

God grants the desires of our heart but also changes our heart through pain. But that is little comfort during the storm.
