Little Mercies Here and There

Standard

It’s Thanksgiving Day 2015.

The sun is shining here. A little mercy from God.

My house is warm. The sweatpants and hoodie are both soft and comfortable. Little mercies.

I opened the refrigerator and it was stuffed with food. The coffee’s lukewarm, but I can heat it back up. Birds outside sing. Little mercies, all of them.

The world is filled each day with little mercies that come down from the Father of Lights because He loves to fill our days with moments and experiences that make life shine. Because He loves us so very much.

No doubt that darkness exists, but it does not and cannot win. Little mercies, every day, come down from heaven, and suddenly everything is all right.

A phone call from a friend. A bit of good news. An unexpected find of some loose change. And a houseplant that’s doing just a bit better after a repotting.

One more breath. One more thought. One more chance to be thankful, for both the big and the small things in life.

Little mercies here and there. Little mercies everywhere.

Thank you, Lord, for each and every one.
