Calling All Chicago-area, Forward-Thinking Christians….

Standard

I’m going to interrupt my series on Christians & the Business World to help an old friend who called me this evening out of the blue. We talked for hours about many of the issues I’ve raised on this blog:

  • Ministering to the family as a unit
  • Radically revisioning Christian community
  • Rethinking how Christians interact with the business world
  • Confronting the silence of the Church in America on work issues
  • Addressing the societal problems raised in this country by globalization

And on and on…

Needless to say, we are largely on the same page although we’d not been discussing these ideas before tonight. The Holy Spirit is moving.

Kirk Hawthorne is a visionary thinker with ideas for ministry that are ten years ahead of the curve. He’s looking to put together a team of dedicated, mature believers who would investigate a church plant in the rapidly growing area south of Naperville, IL. This plant would incorporate new ideas of Christian community along the lines of some of the ideas that Randy Frazee has proposed, but on an even deeper level. Contact KirkKirk has an excellent background in making technology work for the Church and yet his heart is strictly for people, reaching families in a holistic ministry that makes every member of the family important to the mission of the Church.

I personally know that we in the Body of Christ need people like Kirk who see to the next level; we need to support them. So this post is a networking call for Kirk. If anyone who reads this blog would like to get in on the ground floor of an exciting vision for ministry in the Greater Chicago area (or knows people in that area who would love to be a part of this), you can contact Kirk at the address at right.

Thanks in advance for all your help. I’ll have more in my series on Christians and business soon to come, but I think this is a worthwhile need and I know Kirk is an instrument in God’s hand for great things, so I wanted to get this out there ASAP.

Blessings.
